Feb. 23, 2010: “History to Move Texans Forward”
Join us Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at 7 p.m. for a special program entitled “History to Move Texans Forward” at SMU’s Hughes-Trigg Theatre at the Hughes-Trigg Student Center, 3140 Dyer Street, Dallas. The program, free and open to the public, will explore the purpose and passion behind the most important development in Holocaust education in years-the creation of the Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission. Participating in the program will be Senator Florence Shapiro (R-Plano), co-sponsor of the bill that created the Commission; Senator Rodney Ellis (D-Houston), co-sponsor of the bill that created the Commission; Elliott Dlin, Museum Director, Dallas Holocaust Museum/Center for Education and Tolerance; Amy Fisher-Smith, Professor of Psychology, University of Dallas; and moderating the program will be Evan Smith, Editor of the newly-launched TheTexasTribune.com news site and former editor of Texas Monthly.
